What we do

Shabby chic furniture created in Bali is what Punkitup is all about. The business is based in London and regularly displays its shabby chic furniture in Whitstable and other local areas. Our collections are sourced and designed in Bali, and what makes our work so special is that all of our furniture is made by hand from recycled natural materials, meaning no two pieces are the same. There isn’t a home or garden in which our shabby chic furniture wouldn’t suit. We take pride in the furniture we create, ranging from teak garden furniture pieces to vintage chairs and desks. We choose to create shabby chic furniture as we strongly believe that you can create something truly beautiful from anything, and by re-using old natural materials we can proudly say that each of our pieces of vintage furniture is unique. With furniture being such an important part of every household, we think it’s important to make sure you have furniture that really says something. This is why we’ve designed our retro furniture with vibrant colours and antique themes, inspired by our time in Bali.

How Bali inspired Us

Having spent the last 3 years in Bali alongside skilled artisans and craftsmen, we were able to pick up the traditional techniques used to develop unique vintage home wares suited to a contemporary and modern lifestyle. Our time in Bali opened our eyes up to how old materials could be transformed into beautiful creations, teaching us to re-use, and not to waste. We hope you can see this idea reflected in the designs that we offer.

If some our designs seem familiar to you, that could be because you’ve already seen them in some of the trendiest London bars and stately homes that we’ve had the pleasure of designing furniture for. We’ve also worked on a few special designs that we’re very proud of, you’ll find some of our best work on this website so please feel free to look around.

As we learnt from the Bali people, the shabby chic furniture we choose to fill our home and the placement of it can be a very powerful thing. The Bali people are strong believers in Feng Shui, and we have done our best to reflect this when creating our furniture. Part of Feng Shui is that everything has it’s own place, and that tidy and neatness will help create a tidy mind. With this way of thinking we’ve created several teak wardrobes and storage units that will fit perfectly where a messy clutter may have once sat, and chairs that would make an empty room seem lively.

Our shabby chic furniture designs

From boat seats, harp chairs and oil drum mirrors, to teak wardrobes and teak sideboards, we’re able to create such a wide variety of indoor and garden furniture that we’re sure we have something that will meet your needs. We often find customers noting how much attention our pieces have been getting when they have guests round, which is always a pleasure to hear. We’ve created all of our designs with the intention of catching people’s attention and making them think. Why not take a look at our selection of upcycled furniture and see if you can picture any of our pieces in your home, garden, or place of work?

On top of this, here at Punkitup we actually enjoy creating bespoke furniture items too. If you have an idea of something you’d like to see created, then please get in touch with your thoughts on the design and we’d be more than happy to work on making your unique furniture dreams a reality.

We’re more than happy to welcome visitors to collect their items. Or as we pride ourselves on being a business that caters for buying vintage furniture online, you can view our delivery details

About Us

The faces behind the design and construction of all of the furniture here at Punkitup belong to artist Lisa Holt, and carpenter Danny Smith, who have worked together to create all of these beautiful pieces you can see on-site. The inspiration for this business came about following their frequent family holidays to the Indonesian island of Bali, where the island opened their eyes to the spirit and culture that Bali had to offer, not only in it’s people, but also in the beauty of the natural materials available to them. From this Punkitup was born. A one-stop-online-shop for  vintage tables, retro chairs, and a range of other pieces that are sure to make for collectible furniture.

We really hope you find what you’re looking for with us and join the many satisfied customers we’ve had. We love what we do here at Punkitup, creating such beautiful furniture is our passion, and we love seeing our pieces going to good places where they’re treated with the love and admiration that we have for them.
